The Australian Pattern Recognition Society is hosting its biennial conference on image processing and pattern recognition in Cairns from the 6th to the 8th of December, 2005.  Papers will be  internationally refereed on full papers to meet strict Australian E1 publication requirements.  The proceedings will be published by IEEE CS Press in CDROM format with a booklet of printed abstracts available at the conference.   The venue and city have been selected to encourage international participation.  Cairns has its own international airport only 10 minutes from the venue.  The Cairns Convention Centre was voted the  World's Best Congress Centre in 2004 and is on the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.  An optional all-day reef trip is planned for Friday the 9th of December as well as half-day trips to Green Island for accompanying persons.
